Welcome to the Alster-Canoe-Club (ACC)!
For you our Visitors, we have condensed all the most important information about our Club into a short English version. We hope that we can provide you with at least a taste of what we at the ACC have to offer. For more information contact our friendly English speaking Presidents (see the Contact List)

History

The ACC was founded in 1905, making it the oldest registered Canoe Club in Germany (worth a visit - just for the sake of canoeing history!). The ACC played a crucial role in initiating the DKV (Deutschen Kanu-Verbandes / the German Canoe Association) in 1914 and provided it's first president.

Since then the ACC has played a leading role in promoting and developing German canoeing, as well as training athletes for international competition. Today the club has over 400 members ensuring that there is something for everyone!

Location

The ACC is situated in the north of Hamburg directly on the Alster Canal. The Alster is a tributary of Hamburg's main Elbe River.
The Clubhouse is a beautiful Hamburg period house, rebuilt after it's destruction in WW II.

Activities

Canoeing…. but in every variety imaginable !
Touring, Racing, Polo, White Water, Sea Kayaking - and everything that goes with it - a love of the outdoors, the spirit of adventure, slightly eccentric people etc…

For the amateur Canoeist we offer:
An active group of members offering company or route information.
The possibility to experience a number of different canoe activities.
A friendly environment in which to meet fellow Paddlers.
Courses are available during the summer months - information on Request.
We offer a base for Canoe excursions in and around Hamburg (for DKV Members only Jogi ??)

For the young:
If you are at least 8 years old, then we have a complete programme - whether you are an absolute Novice or would like to try something new - Polo, or Race Canoes…

For the Competetive amongst you:
We are a team of enthusiastic paddlers and compete at many levels in Canoe Polo and K1 - K4 (??) as well as Canadian Canoe disciplines. Marathon paddlers can also find a suitable challenge.
